Training Workshop on Institutional Reform and Strategic Planning Development in Iraq

In alignment with its institutional reform initiative, the Ufuq Organization for Development, in partnership with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, organized an intensive two-day training workshop aimed at enhancing institutional frameworks and strengthening strategic planning capacities within Iraqi national entities.

Ufuq’s efforts are closely aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG 16), which emphasizes good governance, justice, and the establishment of robust institutions. For over a decade, Ufuq has worked in collaboration with state institutions to build their capacities, advance governance frameworks, and improve operational performance, fostering a transition towards institutionalized and sustainable development.

The workshop gathered the governmental team tasked with developing the National Strategy for Managing Social Diversity in Iraq, comprising representatives from 42 official institutions, including legislative, judicial, and executive branches, as well as independent national bodies.

The key focus areas of the workshop included:

  • Building the capacity of national institutions to develop strategic plans using modern, standardized methodologies.
  • Strengthening federal service delivery mechanisms to enhance operational efficiency in government functions.
  • Developing inter-authority networking frameworks to ensure effective collaboration and integration across different branches of government.

This workshop represents a vital step in Ufuq’s ongoing efforts to empower state institutions through specialized training programs, drawing on both national expertise and international best practices. By fostering partnerships across sectors, Ufuq aims to promote good governance, transparency, and justice in Iraq’s public administration, contributing to the country’s sustainable institutional reform journey.
