Ufuq’s participation in a consultative meeting with the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq, UNAMI

Ufuq Organization participated in the consultative meeting on the draft law (cybercrime), at the invitation of the Human Rights Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).
The meeting was attended by representatives of the office, representatives of civil society organizations, Lawers, and journalists.
In the meeting, Mr. Wissam Ibrahim the Executive manager of our Organization explained our work on this draft, and the pressure we exerted with partners and colleagues to reach the best possible form of legislation.
Our observations included points related to the philosophy of legislation and the content of the draft law as a protection for the citizen and his rights.
We also registered our concern that the continuous redrafting of this law may lead to a copy containing legal articles restricting freedoms and civil and political rights.
